Ahyiaem:President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated two Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds in Ahyiaem and Nsuapemkrom, located in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region. These new facilities aim to enhance access to primary healthcare and provide essential services closer to the local residents.
According to Ghana Web, the commissioning was part of President Mahama's two-day Resetting Ghana tour in the Ahafo Region. During the ceremony, he highlighted the allocation of 80 percent of the District Assemblies Common Fund directly to the Assemblies, facilitating the development of infrastructure vital for improving the lives of community members.
The President noted that the Assemblies are expected to utilize these funds for annual key development projects, which include constructing CHPS compounds, classroom blocks, and district economy markets, along with completing ongoing projects. The Ahyiaem CHPS compound is set to be registered under the Ghana Health Service's Free Primary Healthcare programme, enabling residents to access healthcare services through this initiative.
The Dormaahemaa, Dr. Akosua Frema Edwaaben, assured President Mahama of the community's commitment to maintaining the facility, ensuring its sustainability and continued service delivery. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen primary healthcare and expand access to essential services across the Ahafo Region.
