Accra: A leading member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's team, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has responded to Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams' recent call for prayers for the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod). Karbo emphasized that while prayer and personal faith are important, they should complement rather than replace effective governance and concrete action.
According to Ghana Web, Archbishop Duncan-Williams had expressed concerns about the challenges facing GoldBod and the influential forces he believes are resisting efforts to ensure proper management within the institution. In response, Karbo took to social media to acknowledge the significance of prayer and faith but argued that they cannot substitute for sound policy, institutional accountability, or active civic engagement.
Karbo highlighted the importance of transparent decision-making and evidence-based solutions in a healthy democracy. He stressed that leaders must be accountable to the people they serve and warned that when rhetoric takes the place of concrete action, public trust is eroded, and pressing national issues remain unresolved.
Karbo urged citizens to demand measurable outcomes from public officials, protect the independence of state institutions, and ensure that all public officials are accountable to the Constitution and the populace.
