Photos Capture Emotional Scenes As Ghanaians Return Home Amid South Africa Xenophobia

Accra: Pictures of Ghanaian evacuees from South Africa have sparked a wave of reactions across social media. The images, shared by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, depict relieved Ghanaians arriving home with their children after being evacuated from South Africa amid recent xenophobic attacks.

According to Ghana Web, some of the returnees were seen smiling as they reunited with officials and family members at the airport, marking the end of a difficult ordeal. Ablakwa shared the photos on X with a caption reading: 'Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah must be proud of us. More evacuation flights next week. For God and Country.'

The government has successfully evacuated the first batch of 300 citizens who requested assistance to return home following xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals in parts of South Africa. Authorities have indicated that more evacuation flights are expected in the coming days as efforts continue to bring stranded Ghanaians home safely.
