Sunyani: Pastor Christopher Agbeyanfia, the Regional Coordinator of the Middle-Belt Zone of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), has advised Christians to engage in regular exercise and consume balanced meals as a means to live longer and achieve their potential in both secular life and ministry.
According to Ghana News Agency, Pastor Agbeyanfia highlighted that while God promises longevity to Christians, it is essential for individuals to take proactive steps by exercising regularly, consuming more fruits, drinking water frequently, and reducing the intake of sugary and canned foods to enhance body immunity. He shared this advice during a sermon at a joint service for the observance of the Lord's Supper at the Ridge Central Church in Sunyani. He emphasized that regular exercise aids digestion, removes toxins, maintains body temperature, and lowers blood pressure.
The service drew congregants from various branches of the church, including Abesim, Yamfo, Nsoatre, Wawasua, Sunyani, Fiapre, Techire, Susuanso, Adrobaa, and other local communities. Pastor Agbeyanfia also stressed the importance of moderate exposure to sunlight to boost Vitamin D levels and strengthen bones, noting that weak sunlight exposure can weaken the body system. He advised ministers and others to allocate time for rest, especially as aging weakens the bones.
He urged Christians to practice self-control, avoid alcohol and substance abuse, and embrace moderation in all aspects of life. Pastor Agbeyanfia warned that beyond sin, tobacco, illicit drug use, and alcohol could lead to stress-related issues like depression. Concluding his sermon, he referenced Proverbs 3:5-8, encouraging Christians to build and strengthen their faith and trust in God, the only source of lasting peace and emotional strength.
