Kumasi: Over 100 retired pastors, their spouses, and widows of deceased pastors in the Ashanti Region benefited from a free medical screening and treatment initiative sponsored by Reverend Stephen Yengam, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, and his wife, Lady Mrs Monica Wengam. The outreach, which took place at the Light House Assembly of God in Kumasi, provided critical health services to 135 individuals from the Ashanti East, Ashanti West, and Ashanti North districts of the church.
According to Ghana News Agency, the medical outreach was supported by the Cedar Medical Outreach Team, which comprised doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals from Cedar Mountain Chapel, East Legon, an Assemblies of God church. In addition to medical services, the event included lunch and an undisclosed cash gift for each participant, emphasizing the commitment of Reverend Wengam and his wife to the welfare of retired church servants.
Reverend Wengam personally attended the event, engaging with the retired pastors, their spouses, and the widows, highlighting the critical importance of health care for those who have dedicated their lives to serving the church. This recent initiative marks the second time the Wengams have organized such a program for retired pastors and their families in the region, following a similar event in February 2022 at the Emmanuel Temple Assembly of God in Kumasi.
The beneficiaries of the program expressed their deep gratitude to Reverend and Mrs Wengam, noting the outreach as a significant act of love and recognition of the sacrifices made by the retired ministers and families of deceased pastors.
