Opambour Supports Mensa Otabil’s Remarks on Fake Prophets in Ghana

Accra:Founder and leader of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, widely known as Opambour, has expressed his support for Pastor Mensa Otabil following the latter's controversial comments questioning the authenticity of many prophets in Ghana.

According to Ghana Web, Opambour, also referred to as the Nation's Prophet, stated that he agrees with Otabil's assertion that a significant number of individuals claiming to be prophets in Ghana are not genuine. Opambour argued that this issue is not unique to the prophetic ministry but is also present in other religious groups and professions where individuals misrepresent their callings.

Opambour urged genuine prophets not to be offended by Otabil's statements but to continue focusing on their work. He emphasized that the presence of fake prophets is a reality, and those who are confident in their calling should not be troubled by the remarks. Additionally, he alleged that some individuals in the prophetic ministry engage in questionable practices, including working with dwarfs and deceiving followers.

Pastor Mensa Otabil, the founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), had made the remarks during a church service, questioning the lifestyles and authenticity of many self-proclaimed prophets. Otabil expressed concerns about the use of occultism and necromancy within the prophetic ministry, although he affirmed his belief in genuine prophetic gifts among Christians.

The comments have sparked a debate within Ghana's prophetic community, with figures like Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah of Glorious Word Power Ministries International criticizing Otabil for allegedly undermining the credibility of prophets. Owusu Bempah accused Otabil of attempting to diminish the prophetic ministry's reputation and threatened to reveal information about Otabil if he continued making such remarks.

The discourse has revived public interest in the credibility of prophetic ministries, the behavior of religious leaders, and the distinction between genuine prophecy and practices deemed fraudulent or spiritually questionable.
