Aburi: Twelve students from Akuapem South Municipality have been awarded scholarships by the OMJ Foundation as part of the Basic Education Certificate Examination Preparation Intervention Project (BECEPIP). At a ceremony held at the Municipal Head Office of the Akuapem South Education Directorate, the OMJ Foundation fulfilled its promise by presenting the 'OMJ Ketewa Biaa Nsua' package to these outstanding learners, rewarding their participation in the three-month BECEPIP pilot programme.
According to Ghana Web, the scholarship package includes a mattress, chop box, and a single-piece travelling suitcase to aid the beneficiaries' transition into Senior High School (SHS). This package is one of three award categories offered by the OMJ Foundation, with the others being the 'OMJ Full Sponsorship' and 'Admission Scholarship' packages.
During the ceremony, Osei Mensah Joseph, the Founder and CEO of the OMJ Foundation, shared his personal journey with the students to inspire them. He emphasized the importance of focus, discipline, and determination as the learners embark on their SHS education. He also called on parents to play a more active role in their children's academic and personal development. Osei Mensah Joseph thanked the Akuapem South Education Directorate and the educational staff of the participating schools for their collaboration throughout the pilot.
Elizabeth Afriyie, the Municipal Director of Education for Akuapem South who chaired the event, expressed gratitude to the OMJ Foundation for its initiative. She urged the awardees to excel in their studies, thereby bringing pride to themselves, their families, and their communities. Afriyie highlighted an improvement in the municipality's BECE performance, notably among the five schools involved in the BECEPIP pilot, and praised the OMJ Foundation for its support in enhancing educational outcomes.
BECEPIP, an initiative by the OMJ Foundation, aims to improve BECE preparation and results among selected learners in the Akuapem South Municipality. The pilot programme was conducted in five schools: Konkonuru Methodist JHS, Kitase M/A JHS, Pakro Anglican JHS, Anamenampa JHS, and Nsakye M/A JHS. The programme offered a comprehensive approach, incorporating academic preparation, additional learning support, and various other educational strategies to support and motivate learners. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Akuapem South Education Directorate and the participating schools, with full funding from the OMJ Foundation.
