Accra: Outspoken media personality Ohemaa Woyeje has shared her and her husband's early marital challenges and their journey to overcome them. In an interview with MzGee aired on April 29, 2026, Ohemaa revealed the difficulties they faced due to her inability to conceive within the first year of marriage, which led to her being labeled as barren.
According to Ghana Web, the delay in getting pregnant was primarily due to their long-distance marriage, a factor that was overlooked by critics. Ohemaa explained that the criticism was so intense that her husband made the significant decision to quit his job and relocate to Ghana. This move allowed them to live together, strengthen their connection, and ultimately start a family. She recounted, "He left his job so we could be together consistently and have that connection over time so we could have a child. That's why he stayed longer during that period, and it was towards the end of that stay that I got pregnant."
Ohemaa Woyeje further disclosed how her pregnancy affected her professional life. She lost her job at Multimedia Group Limited after her pregnancy news became public. Despite her expectations for reduced pressure, the management did not allow her to continue hosting her show, forcing her to resign after failed attempts to resolve the situation. She expressed her frustration, stating, "At the early stage of my pregnancy, considering all that had been said about me, you would expect that once people heard I was pregnant, they would ease the pressure and allow me to continue my work. But that never happened."
Ultimately, Ohemaa resigned for her peace and safety, concluding a challenging chapter in her career and personal life.
