Obuasi east: Mr. William Kofi Adzowu, the Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi East, has officially commenced the construction of a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound with nurses' quarters at Ayease. The initiative aims to enhance access to healthcare services in the locality.
According to Ghana News Agency, the project is being financed through the District Assemblies' Common Fund. It will include a fully equipped CHPS compound, a two-bedroom semi-detached nurses' quarters, and a mechanised borehole with two 500-litre polytanks on concrete stands, among other necessary facilities.
Addressing the local chiefs and residents, Mr. Adzowu highlighted the past challenges faced by the community due to the absence of a nearby healthcare facility, leading to long travels for medical care. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare across the nation.
The MCE assured the community of his dedication to completing the project as planned and handing it over by June 2026. He also mentioned that the location was chosen with potential future expansions in mind, possibly evolving into a full clinic or hospital.
Mr. Adzowu appealed for the community's cooperation with the contractor to facilitate smooth and timely project execution. In response, Nana Oduro Gyekye, the Odikro of Ayease, praised the MCE's efforts since assuming office and encouraged the contractor to hire local artisans to provide employment for the youth.
Additionally, Nana Oduro Gyekye requested the MCE to prioritize improving the road network within the municipality, particularly the Abusco Junction-Ayease stretch.
