Kpone: The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has commended the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) for proactively clearing the median along the N1 Highway from the Kpone Barrier to the Tema Roundabout to improve visibility and enhance road safety.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Joshua Quist, the Greater Accra Regional Director of the NRSA, gave the commendation during an interview. This occurred during the second phase of the median clearance exercise at the Centre of the World Golf Course enclave.
Mr. Quist commended Mr. Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso MCE, for the initiative, describing it as timely and exemplary. He noted that the MCE had demonstrated leadership worthy of emulation by other metropolitan, municipal, and district chief executives (MMDCEs) across the country.
He explained that the accumulation of sand, overgrown weeds, and other obstructions on medians along major roads often impaired the visibility of both motorists and pedestrians, contributing significantly to road crashes, especially at night.
'The Kpone-Katamanso MCE has set the pace for other MMDCEs to emulate. Clearing the median will not only improve visibility for motorists but also help reduce pedestrian fatalities and protect lives and property from avoidable road crashes,' he said.
