NPP’s breaking the 8 agenda is just wishful thinking; it won’t happen – Dafeamekpor

The Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should forget about breaking the eight.

Speaking to Joy News on the AM Show, the Parliamentarian opined that the desire of the ruling party to stay in power beyond eight years is just wishful thinking.

According to him, the failure of some National Executives to retain their positions during last weekend’s National Delegates Conference is an indication that the NPP won’t succeed in 2024 during the general elections.

“NPP’s breaking the 8 agenda is just wishful thinking. They cannot even break the 8 in their own internal elections. How many of them broke the 8 last weekend during their elections. This thing they keep saying it will never happen,” Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor said on Tuesday, July 20.

The ruling New Patriotic Party has been in power for the past six months after winning power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general elections.

In 2024, President Akufo-Addo will end his two-term as leader of the country for another general election to be held.

Since last year, the NPP has set an agenda to retain power beyond the eight-year electoral cycle.

As a result, the party last Saturday elected various leaders to occupy national positions to lead the charge.
