Accra:The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commenced the registration process for individuals aspiring to become parliamentary candidates in the upcoming selection process. The party's General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, announced that the registration portal will be accessible from November 1 to November 10, 2026, for those interested in running on the NPP ticket in the 2028 general election.
According to Ghana Web, Koduah explained at a press conference on October 29, 2026, that this registration marks the initial phase before opening nominations, allowing the party to evaluate candidates' eligibility under its constitution and Ghana's laws. He emphasized that this step does not equate to the opening of nominations and does not permit candidates to campaign.
Interested individuals must pay a GH¢5,000 registration fee to complete their application. Koduah highlighted that the party will assess candidates to ensure compliance with the NPP’s constitutional and legal requirements. Additionally, the NPP plans to conduct training and capacity-building workshops for aspirants in December 2026, divided into northern, middle, and southern zones.
The workshops aim to prepare candidates for the selection process, with sessions scheduled from December 1 to 18, 2026, across the three zones. Koduah urged party members to adhere to the specified timelines and complete the declaration of interest process within the given period.
