Accra:The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the commencement of its expression of interest phase for members aspiring to become parliamentary candidates in the 2028 general elections.
According to Ghana Web, the party has specified that interested members must declare their intentions online between Sunday, November 1, and Tuesday, November 10, 2026. Applications must be submitted through the party's designated portal, ppc.nppghana.org, within this period, as no submissions will be accepted thereafter.
Prospective candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of GH¢5,000. The NPP emphasized that this process is the initial step in selecting parliamentary candidates for all 276 constituencies in preparation for the upcoming elections. The party ensures that this exercise will be structured and transparent, guaranteeing fairness and equal opportunities for all participants.
Applicants will undergo a vetting and screening process to determine their eligibility to contest on the party's ticket. Additionally, the NPP plans to organize capacity-building workshops for potential candidates in December 2026 across the Northern, Middle, and Southern zones, with further details to be provided via the party's official channels.
The guidelines for this process apply to all prospective candidates, including current NPP Members of Parliament, who are not exempt from these requirements. The party has cautioned against commencing any campaign activities, reiterating that declaring an intention to run does not equate to campaign authorization. Any violation of this directive will result in sanctions as per the party's constitution and regulations.
In a statement signed by Communications Director Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the NPP urged aspirants to adhere to the guidelines and maintain discipline, decorum, and mutual respect throughout the process. The party's primary focus remains on fostering unity within its ranks as it gears up for the 2028 general elections.
