Accra: The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), under the leadership of Chief Executive Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, actively participated in a nationwide clean-up initiative. This exercise was declared by the President of the Republic as a part of ongoing efforts to rehabilitate communities affected by recent floods and enhance environmental sanitation.
According to Ghana Web, the clean-up exercise was conducted over two days, from 10-11 July 2026, under the theme 'Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods.' This initiative is part of the Government's strategy to mitigate the impact of future floods through collective action and community involvement.
The NPA's Management and Staff focused their efforts on tidying the vicinity of the Authority's National Head Office and various parts of the Dzorwulu community. Activities included desilting clogged drains, clearing gutters, and sweeping streets, particularly around the George Walker Bush Highway.
The clean-up was a collaborative effort with the Buz Stop Boys and included participation from Management and Staff of the Petroleum Commission, led by Deputy Chief Executive Nasir Alfa Mohammed. The team also welcomed the involvement of John Dumelo, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon and Deputy Minister for Agriculture.
Following the exercise, NPA Chief Executive Godwin Kudzo Tameklo reiterated the Authority's dedication to supporting national initiatives that foster environmental sustainability and public safety. He encouraged all Ghanaians to adopt responsible sanitation practices to avert future flooding disasters.
