Lagos: A group identifying itself as the Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has announced a temporary ban on Burna Boy's music across its members' playlists, following an alleged physical altercation between the Afrobeats star and popular DJ Tunez at a nightclub.
According to Ghana Web, the decision comes after videos and reports circulated online purportedly showing DJ Tunez, widely known as a longtime associate of Wizkid, being attacked during a confrontation involving Burna Boy. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and neither camp has issued an official statement.
In a strongly worded post on Instagram, the NDJ condemned what it described as discrimination within the DJ community, calling for unity and equal respect for all DJs regardless of their affiliations. The association announced that Burna Boy's music would be pulled from its DJs' playlists pending a full investigation into the incident.
'Burna Boy's music is temporarily out of any of our DJs' playlists until further notice. Our team will carry out a proper investigation into last night's incident that happened to one of our own, DJ Tunez. "We urge DJs in Nigeria as a whole to be vigilant and respectful to any individual male or female artist at their various events,' the body added.
