Swedru: Nana Kweku Esieni V, the Nifahene of Agona Swedru, has called upon the new headmaster of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS), Mr. William Awumee, to enhance discipline among students to combat the violence that has impacted academic performance. Nana Esieni emphasized the school's history of producing distinguished scholars and personalities, underscoring the need to uphold its high standards.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Esieni made this appeal during Mr. Awumee's courtesy visit to the Swedruman Council of Chiefs in Agona West Municipality. He expressed concern over the increasing indiscipline and indecent dressing among students, urging the new headmaster to restore the respect and recognition once associated with SWESBUS students.
Nana Esieni further highlighted the eagerness of the school's alumni, both locally and internationally, to support quality education at their alma mater. He advised Mr. Awumee to connect with the alumni to facilitate their contributions. He cited the example of Swedru Senior High School (SWESCO), where alumni regularly support academic and infrastructural development.
Nana Kweku Kakari II, the Bamuhene of Agona Swedru and Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Council, echoed these sentiments. He lamented the school's diminished reputation, noting that some Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates had stopped selecting SWESBUS as their first choice. He urged Mr. Awumee to reverse this negative trend.
In response, Mr. Awumee acknowledged the issues of indiscipline and indecent dressing but assured the chiefs of his intent to use his expertise and the council's support to address these challenges. He expressed gratitude for the chiefs' support and highlighted plans to organize a homecoming event to foster academic and infrastructural growth at SWESBUS.
