Accra: The Volta Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has paid tribute to the late Mr. Nicholas Aklorbortu for his dedicated services to the party.
According to Ghana News Agency, the NDC described Mr. Aklorbortu as a politician with a conscience who left an indelible mark on the party and the communities he served. The party expressed that his passing is a significant loss, but his legacy will continue to inspire members.
In a tribute dated December 19, Mr. Kafui Sorkpa Agbleze, the NDC Volta Regional Communication Officer, highlighted that Mr. Aklorbortu's life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service. Mr. Agbleze emphasized that Mr. Aklorbortu chose to engage with the people, listening to their concerns and demonstrating dedication to humanity through the policies he shaped and sacrifices he made, benefiting families and communities.
He further explained that during crises, Mr. Aklorbortu prioritized responsibility over popularity, showcasing true leadership that inspired respect and admiration. His life reminds us that leadership is about serving others rather than seeking power.

Mr. Nicholas Aklorbortu was the Communications Officer of the NDC in South Tongu. He tragically passed away in a motorbike accident on his way from the 41st National Farmers' Day celebration in Ho on December 5. The collision involved another motorbike, leading to a fuel fire that engulfed his bike. Another person was also confirmed dead at the scene.
Mr. Aklorbortu, who also served as the Volta regional monitoring and evaluation officer for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), was confirmed dead by the South Tongu Constituency Secretariat. Notable NDC members, including former South Tongu MP Mr. Kobena Mensah Woyome and Volta Regional Minister Mr. James Gunu, have eulogized Mr. Aklorbortu, describing his death as a significant loss for the party.
