NDC National Congress: I’m the people’s person – Ofosu Ampofo confident of re-election

Incumbent National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has expressed optimism in his chances of being re-elected this weekend.

The largest opposition party is set to elect new national leaders at its National Congress on Saturday, December 17.

Incumbent chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is in fierce competition with long-serving General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia who is after his seat.

Despite the strong opposition, Chairman Ofosu Ampofo says he is confident he will be re-elected.

Speaking at a campaign event, he stressed that he is the people’s person and will win the election to lead the NDC to victory in the next general elections.

“I am the people’s person and I have an agenda to win the 2024 elections and form the next government,” Samuel Ofosu Ampofo emphasised.

In a call, the incumbent NDC National Chairman has appealed for unity to prevail. He said he believes it is a sure way for the NDC to achieve its ultimate goal of beating the NPP in 2024.

“Let’s focus on things that unite us rather than what divides us. I will continue to build bridges rather than walls because politics is a game of numbers and our actions of omissions and commissions must be geared towards bringing us more members rather than dragging people away to ensure that we have the numbers to vote for us in 2024,” Samuel Ofosu Ampofo added.

This year’s NDC National Congress will come off as planned tomorrow at the Accra Sports Stadium.
