NDC Cadre Urges Supporters to Cease Illegal Activities

Key Issues Politics

Accra: Mr. Camillus Maalneriba-Tia Sakzeesi, a cadre of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly condemned the recent violent activities involving party supporters across the nation. He emphasized the urgent need for these individuals to cease such illegal practices immediately.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Sakzeesi expressed his concerns over the reports and footage of unlawful acts committed by some NDC supporters following the party’s victory in the 2024 elections. He stressed the importance of understanding that the election victory was not solely due to the supporters’ votes but was instead a result of the collective discontent of Ghanaians, labeling the outcome as ‘rebellious ballots.’

Mr. Sakzeesi urged supporters with evidence of any wrongdoing to report these to the appropriate state security agencies rather than resorting to illegal means to address grievances. He warned that such actions could lead to future electoral losses, stating, “The NDC is not safe. If we don’t take care, we could be losing the 2028 elections ahead of time.”

While commending President John Dramani Mahama for his appointments, Mr. Sakzeesi reminded supporters of the impracticality of fulfilling all supporters’ expectations regarding appointments or national benefits. He encouraged them to emulate the selfless dedication of the party’s cadres, who contributed significantly to Ghana’s fourth republic.

Reflecting on the party’s history, Mr. Sakzeesi acknowledged the disruption of the democratic system in 1981 but highlighted the successful re-establishment of constitutional governance. He called for a shift away from personal wealth accumulation among supporters, stressing the need for the party to prioritize the interests of all Ghanaians, not just its members.

Finally, he urged party faithful to focus on the government’s success, emphasizing that a well-managed economy would benefit all citizens. Mr. Sakzeesi concluded by encouraging support for good governance and policies that would enhance the economy, allowing benefits to reach ordinary citizens beyond personal gains.
