Minneapolis: The NBA has postponed the Minnesota Timberwolves' game against the Golden State Warriors in Minneapolis after another fatal shooting in the city linked to federal officers. A few hours before the planned tip-off on Saturday, the North American professional basketball league announced that the game will now be played on Sunday.
According to Ghana News Agency, a person died in Minneapolis after shots were fired by a federal officer, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security. The department stated that the individual was declared dead at the scene. However, the Minneapolis police chief indicated that the man died shortly afterwards in hospital and identified the individual as a 37-year-old white resident of Minneapolis who was presumed to be a US citizen.
Many details surrounding the incident remain unclear. The Department of Homeland Security noted that the man was armed, but further specifics about the situation have not been disclosed.
This incident follows another shooting in early January when an immigration officer in Minneapolis shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in her car. The case led to widespread shock and protests.
