Kumasi: Ghanaian FA Cup holders Nations FC have been drawn against Mali's FC Diarra in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup. The pairing was confirmed during the official draw ceremony held in Cairo on Thursday, as the Ghanaian side prepares for its first-ever appearance in continental club competition. According to Ghana Web, Nations FC will travel to Mali for the first leg, which is scheduled to take place between 4 and 6 September 2026. The return fixture will be played in Ghana from 11 to 13 September. The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to face the winner between Nigerien side AS Zam and Togo's ASKO De Kara in the next round of the competition. The Kumasi-based club earned their place in the Confederation Cup after winning the 2025/26 Ghana FA Cup, securing a historic qualification for African football. The upcoming campaign marks Nations FC's debut on the continental stage, and the club will be hoping to make a strong impression as they represent Ghana against som e of Africa's established teams. With preparations expected to begin ahead of the September fixtures, Nations FC will aim to navigate the preliminary rounds and secure a place in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
