National cathedral is not important, gov’t must focus on fixing the economy – MzVee

The National Cathedral has been one of the most controversial projects under this government, with many believing that the project is a misplaced priority given the current economic woes in the country.

According to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Tongu constituency, government has already financed the project, which was initially believed to be sponsored by private funds to the tune of GHC200m.

The latest to add a voice is a versatile Ghanaian female musician, Miss Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, better known in Showbiz as MzVee, who has also described the project as a misplaced priority.

According to her, there is no need to build the cathedral under hardships.

Modernghana News monitored her interview with Ghanaian entertainment journalist and blogger Sammy Kay, in which she pleaded with the government to prioritize the repair of deteriorating roads and other critical infrastructure.

“I don’t make anything about the national cathedral. It’s not important today because there are more important things to do.

“I will tell the President to focus on fixing street bulbs, spoiled roads, and other important things that will improve the living standards of the citizenry, “she noted.

The ‘Natural Girl’ hitmaker further lamented the general cost of living in the country.

According to her, the amount she used to buy her things whenever she goes out for shopping has doubled.

“The country is very hard at the moment and everybody is feeling it. When I go out these days, prices have shot up by double, and the government is not increasing the salaries of the workers either,” MzVee lamented.
