Over the years, there has been an unpopular notion that artist managers who have female singers under their label are having intimacy with them.
The pressure sometimes pushes many of these singers, particularly the gospel singers, to settle on their husbands being their managers for fear of soiling their Christian beliefs with business.
On her part, Ceccy Twum, a Ghanaian gospel singer and wife of Prophet Alex Twum of Word Vision Chapel International, Ghana, says her husband wouldn’t get time to manage her.
According to her, her husband is too busy propagating the word of God and cannot always put the work on hold to be following her around.
Speaking on Accra-based Hitz FM, the “Your Grace” hitmaker said having your husband as your manager is right so far as the couples are ready to work together.
“It’s cool. “So far as you all agree to work with each other, it’s fine,” she responded to a question posed to her by Doreen Avio, the host.
But she said, “My husband, for instance, doesn’t even have that time to be following me around,” which makes it impossible to have her husband on her management team.
“I move a lot, and he’s also been travelling to go preach here and there.” Imagine having a programme: “Is he going to leave his work and then follow me?” She asked, adding, “It’s not going to happen.”
