Accra, Nov. 26, GNA- Mr. Mustapha Ussif Minister of Youth and Sports, has sworn in seven sub-committees to serve on various committees for the 2023 African Games in Ghana.
At the short event in Accra, the Minister mentioned that the African Games in 2023 would draw participation from 55 African countries with about 8000 athletes, technical officials, and journalists attending.
According to the Minister, the committees were formed to execute roles that will lead to the successful hosting and organization of the Games.
He congratulated members on the various committees and urged them to assist the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to deliver a memorable event.
The chairman of the LOC, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare, said the establishment of the LOC was a key requirement by the African Union Commission, the custodian of the African games disclosing that there are a total of 17 Sub Committees to be constituted for the organisation of the quadrennial multi-sports event.
He mentioned that work is ongoing at the Borteyman and the University of Ghana Stadium in preparation of the games, explaining that, the construction of the facility at Borteyman is in three folds namely the Engineering aspect, procurement aspect, and the construction of the facility.
The LOC chairman added that the contractor is currently in the engineering phase and expressed optimism that the construction of the facility will meet the timelines for the Games.
He called on Ghanaians to fully give their support to the activities leading towards the event to ensure excellent hosting.

I . Media and Communication- Chaired by Mr. Dan Kwaku Yeboah
II. Technical Sub- Committee, Chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah
III. Marketing and Sponsorship Sub-committee Chaired by Mr. Reginald Laryea.
IV. Legal Sub-committee Chaired by Ms. Eva Okyere
V. Finance and Ticketing Chaired by Mr. Andy Sam
VI. Legacy Sub- Committee Chaired by Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu
VII. Medical and Anti- Doping Chaired by Dr. Mrs. Beatrice D. William.
