Takoradi: MTN Ghana has acknowledged the significant contributions of its stakeholders in the company's success over the past three decades. Mr. Michael Gbewonyo, the Chief Internal Audit and Forensic Officer of MTN Ghana, emphasized the importance of recognizing these contributions as the company marks its 30th anniversary.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gbewonyo highlighted the evolution of communication technology in Ghana, noting the challenges faced 30 years ago in making phone calls between cities like Takoradi and Cape Coast. He contrasted this with the current ease of communication, which allows business owners to connect with clients across different regions without leaving their premises. This transformation, he said, is not only Ghana's story but also MTN Ghana's, underscoring the theme of their anniversary, "30 Years of Progress, Powered by You."
The remarks were made during a media engagement and stakeholder program held in Takoradi, Western Region. The event was attended by journalists from the Western and Central Regions, and representatives from various institutions, including the Roads and Highways Authority, Environmental Protection Agency, Police, and National Communications Authority.
Mr. Gbewonyo assured attendees that MTN remains committed to accountability, responsibility, and maintaining the trust of its customers and stakeholders. He emphasized that as the company continues to expand and introduce new services, it does so with transparency and customer-centricity. Furthermore, MTN Ghana is actively contributing to Ghana's digital ambitions by investing in initiatives that create opportunities and enhance lives.
He also expressed gratitude to media partners and stakeholders for their role in narrating MTN's journey, addressing community issues, and providing valuable feedback. In recognition of their support, Mr. Gbewonyo announced plans to develop a group data package for media teams in the Western and Central Regions.
