Akatsi: A commercial motorcyclist in the Volta Region is seeking public assistance to undergo reconstructive surgery following severe injuries sustained in a motor accident in July 2025. Mr. Saviour Kwame Nanewortor, who was involved in a crash on July 22, 2025, suffered major skull and neurological injuries, resulting in partial paralysis on the left side of his body.
According to Ghana News Agency, the 40-year-old father of four has been unable to return to work and requires support for basic daily activities. He was referred to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where specialists recommended head and plastic reconstructive surgery estimated at GHS52,000 to aid recovery and prevent further complications.
Family sources reveal that Mr. Nanewortor continues to experience persistent pain and physical limitations several months after the incident. A family representative stated, "He has made progress with the initial treatment but needs the next phase of surgery to improve his condition."
The financial burden of the surgery has posed a significant challenge for the family, prompting an appeal to benevolent individuals, corporate bodies, institutions, and philanthropic organisations for assistance. Mr. Nanewortor, who previously earned his income as a commercial motorcyclist known as an 'Okada' rider, supported his wife and four children. His current inability to work has raised concerns about the welfare of his household.
