Drobo: The Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, President of the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference, has called on health workers to provide exceptional healthcare services in local communities. He emphasized the importance of viewing their uniforms as symbols of their professions, representing higher responsibilities beyond mere attire.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mt Rev Gyamfi, who is also the Bishop of the Sunyani Catholic Diocese, highlighted the significance of uniforms as visual identifiers, similar to those of security services, which facilitate identification in society. He addressed this at the 11th matriculation ceremony of St Mary’s Campus of the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Drobo, located in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region.
At the event, a total of 260 fresh students, comprising 158 Registered General Nursing and 102 Midwifery students, were matriculated to pursue various health programs at the college. Mt Rev Gyamfi urged health workers to exhibit compassion, care, and comfort in their duties, which would increase their utility in serving communities. He encouraged them to be guided by religious values and principles.
He also advised the new students to focus on their studies, adhere to the college’s code of conduct, and make the most of the educational facilities and resources available to them. Miss Monica Nkrumah, the Principal of the College, reiterated that discipline is a hallmark of the institution. She urged students to dedicate themselves to their academic pursuits and strive to achieve their academic goals.
