Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus played his heart out to celebrate the memory of late Black Stars winger Christian Atsu on Sunday evening when he started for Ajax in the encounter against Sparta Rotterdam.
The youngster for the first time in his professional career since arriving in Europe scored from a direct free-kick.
Running to celebrate his beautifully-scored goal, Mohammed Kudus unveiled a shirt inside his jersey with the inscription ‘RIP Atsu’ as he dedicated the goal to the fallen Black Stars winger.
What made the goal more emotional is the fact that the last goal Christian Atsu scored before his tragic demise was also from a direct free-kick.
In today’s game, Mohammed Kudus starred for Ajax for the entire 90 minutes. For his impressive showing, the talented youngster finished the game with a high rating of 7.2.
He now has nine league goals since the 2022/23 Dutch Eredivisie season started.
In the match against Sparta Rotterdam today, Dusan Tadic netted a brace for Ajax to lead the team to a big win.
Besides the goal from Mohammed Kudus and the brace from Dusan Tadic, Kenneth Taylor also got his name on the scoresheet to complete the demolishing exercise.
