Accra: The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has received a significant donation comprising a brand-new Nissan pickup truck, 20 motorcycles, and an agricultural tractor from the EEZZY Group Foundation to support the upcoming 42nd National Farmers' Day celebrations.
According to Ghana Web, the presentation took place at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra, attended by government officials, development partners, farmers, and media representatives. The donation is part of the Foundation's commitment to supporting President John Dramani Mahama's Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, aimed at modernizing agriculture, improving productivity, creating jobs, and strengthening food security.
The Chief Executive Officer of EEZZY Group Foundation, Mohammed Raii, emphasized the importance of agriculture in national development and reiterated the Foundation's dedication to supporting farmers. "We are here today to present our humble gift to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Agriculture is life. Without agriculture, there is no nation and no future. Supporting our farmers means supporting every Ghanaian family," Raii stated.
Raii also extended gratitude to Samson Deen for facilitating the partnership with the Ministry and praised President Mahama for his focus on agriculture and national development. "I have never seen a leader who thinks more about the future of this great country than President John Dramani Mahama. His commitment to agriculture and national development is inspiring, and we are honoured to support this vision," he added.
The donation includes a Nissan pickup truck for the National Best Farmer, 20 motorcycles to aid agricultural activities and Farmers' Day events, and a modern agricultural tractor with accessories to enhance mechanized farming. Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku lauded the Foundation for its contribution, describing it as a demonstration of strong corporate social responsibility.
Opoku announced that this year's National Best Farmer will receive one of the most attractive reward packages in the history of the awards, including a brand-new Nissan pickup truck, a GHS1.2 million cash prize, a new agricultural tractor, and various modern farm inputs and equipment. He also disclosed that the Ministry has received additional vehicles from other corporate organizations and a bus for the Best Senior High School in Practical Agriculture.
The Minister urged businesses, institutions, and philanthropists to support the Farmers' Day celebrations, assuring transparent distribution of all donations to deserving beneficiaries. He further mentioned that the National Farmers' Day Planning Committee, chaired by Deputy Agriculture Minister John Dumelo, will soon publish official bank account details for financial contributions.
The 42nd National Farmers' Day is scheduled for December 4, 2026, with the theme "Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future."
