Ministry of Education Welcomes 590,000 First-Year SHS Students to 2025/2026 Academic Year


Accra: The Ministry of Education has extended its best wishes to the 590,000 first-year Senior High School (SHS) students who have reported to their various schools for the start of the 2025/2026 academic year. The students arrived at their respective institutions between Saturday, October 18, and Monday, October 20, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.



According to Ghana News Agency, a statement signed by Mr. Hashmin Mohammed, the Press Secretary to the Minister of Education, emphasized the importance of this new chapter in the students’ educational pursuit. The Ministry welcomed all newly admitted students to the secondary education system and encouraged them to approach this phase of their learning with dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm.



The statement also commended parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process. It was announced that the placement into schools and residential status for the 2025/2026 academic year had officially closed. Parents and guardians were urged to proceed to their assigned schools to complete enrollment formalities, ensuring that their wards settle in smoothly for the commencement of academic work.
