Medeama SC and Nations FC Draw Challenging Opponents in CAF Inter-Club Competitions

Accra: Ghanaian clubs Medeama Sporting Club and Nations FC have discovered their opponents for the preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 Confederation of African Football (CAF) inter-club competitions. Medeama SC will face a challenging tie against Democratic Republic of Congo's TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Tarkwa-based club aims to revive their continental ambitions against one of Africa's most decorated clubs. The winner of the two-legged encounter will advance to face either Club Africain of Tunisia or Mali's Djoliba AC in the next round.

Defending MTN FA Cup champions Nations FC will begin their inaugural CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a preliminary-round clash against Mali's FC Diarra. This draw offers the Abrankese-based club an opportunity to make an impact in continental football, despite their relegation to the Division One League.

Should Nations FC overcome FC Diarra over the two-legged tie, they will face the winner of the fixture between AS Zam of Niger and ASKO de Kara of Togo in the subsequent round. Both Ghanaian clubs are hopeful for positive starts to their respective campaigns and aim to progress beyond the preliminary stages.

CAF is expected to announce the dates and venues for the preliminary-round fixtures in the coming days.
