Tarkwa: Medeama SC secured the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) title with a game to spare after a commanding 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium.
According to Ghana News Agency, the home supporters witnessed a dominant display by Medeama, with Kelvin Obeng and Derrick Fordjour each scoring twice, while Prince Owusu added the fifth goal to seal the club's second league title. This victory propelled Medeama five points clear above Bibiani Gold Stars at the top of the table, ensuring the title returns to Tarkwa for the first time in three years.
Elsewhere, Bibiani Gold Stars' title aspirations ended following a 3-1 defeat by Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf. Suraj Seidu scored twice, and Jonathan Nemorden added a third goal. Gold Stars ended the match with nine players after dismissals to Richard Kotey, Kelvin Oppong, and Bright Boakye, which extinguished their hopes of retaining the title.
Aduana FC bolstered their bid for a top-four finish with a 3-1 win over Young Apostles FC. Patrick Mensah struck twice before Bright Agyei converted a penalty to seal the result.
FC Samartex 1996 maintained their top-four hopes with a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in Samreboi, with Gabriel Osei scoring the decisive second-half goal.
Bechem United ensured their Premier League status with a 3-1 win against Asante Kotoko at Nana Gyeabour Park. Augustine Okrah scored twice against his former side to secure Bechem's survival.
Karela United edged Swedru All Blacks with a stoppage-time goal from Zaidan Mohammed, while Vision FC boosted their survival chances with a 1-0 win over Nations FC. Faruk Mohammed scored the only goal, and goalkeeper Godwin Ametefe saved a late penalty to preserve the victory.
Berekum Chelsea defeated already relegated Eleven Wonders 2-0, with goals from Abubakari Seidu and Marvin Owusu, as they climbed into mid-table ahead of the final round of fixtures.
With the title decided, attention turns to the final day of the season, where the race for top four positions and the battle to avoid relegation remain unresolved.
