Man arrested for alleged possession of illicit goods


A 38-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of smuggled fuel and illicit goods worth N.dollars 3 291 at Oshakati.

The Namibian Police Force Oshana’s Commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, said the suspect was arrested around 21h00 on Saturday in the Onawa location.

According to Sakaria, the suspect was arrested for the contravention of the Petroleum Products and Energy Act of 1990.

‘He was allegedly found in possession of fuel containers, 18 Cuca beers and 13 N’Gola beers suspected to be illicit,’ the commander he said.

He indicated that the police confiscated three 25 litre containers filled with fuel, three 25 litre fuel containers filled halfway and five empty 25 litre containers.

Sakaria noted that the suspect is expected to appear before court this week.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
