Man and Pregnant Wife Discovered Dead in Anloga Community

Anloga:A 35-year-old man and his pregnant wife were found dead in their room at Kportorgboe, a community in Anloga in the Volta Region.

According to Ghana Web, the deceased have been identified as Daniel Agbenyegah, a mason, and his wife, Patience Awumee, who was reportedly seven months pregnant. The assembly member for the Anloga Kportorgbe Electoral Area, Edwin Kwasi Vedzi, indicated that preliminary information suggested the man allegedly killed his wife with a knife before taking his own life. However, Vedzi emphasized that these details were not yet confirmed and awaited police verification.

The throats of both individuals had been slashed. Information gathered by the assembly member revealed that the couple had visited the wife's parents on Sunday and returned home on Monday around 1100 am. The incident is believed to have occurred approximately 30 minutes after their return.

The couple resided in a house belonging to the husband's grandfather, along with other relatives. Neighbors noted that there had been no noticeable altercation involving the couple and that they were not on speaking terms with the other occupants of the house. Vedzi mentioned that no known quarrel had been reported between the couple by residents or neighbors.

Police have since removed the bodies and deposited them at the Keta Municipal Hospital morgue for further examination and autopsy. The assembly member urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the police as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The cause of the deaths had not been officially confirmed at the time of the report, with further details expected following police investigations and the autopsy.
