Banda sabiye: A man identified as Anane has allegedly set his mother on fire at Banda Sabiye following a long-standing family dispute linked to his relationship with his girlfriend. The incident is said to have happened after the mother opposed his decision to continue the relationship, which had been marked by tension and accusations within the family.
According to Ghana Web, a relative narrated the incident on Angel FM, stating that the conflict began about two years ago after a misunderstanding between Anane and his partner led to claims that curses had been invoked. The relative explained that although Anane denied invoking any curses, their mother remained concerned and pursued the matter further.
The tensions reportedly escalated when the girlfriend allegedly insulted their mother, leading to further disagreement. The situation strained relations within the family. Anane reportedly cut ties and left the country, only to return to Ghana recently for a family funeral.
The relative stated that family elders were working to resolve the dispute when Anane allegedly made untrue claims against his mother, which led to further confrontation. The relative further recounted that Anane, in a fit of rage, attempted to set him on fire before proceeding to burn their mother.
A video accompanying the report showed the woman lying on a hospital bed with severe burn injuries on her chest, face, and back.
