Accra:Malik Pimpong, the 18-year-old forward for Eintracht Frankfurt, is making waves in European football, following in the footsteps of his father, Razak Pimpong, a former Black Stars striker who played for Ghana in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
According to Ghana Web, Malik has chosen a different international path than his father, representing Denmark at various youth levels. He has played for Denmark's U17, U18, and U19 teams and recently captained the U19 side in a tournament in Portugal.
Malik's football journey began in Denmark, despite his Ghanaian heritage. His club career took a significant turn when he transferred from FC Midtjylland to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2026, with a contract extending to 2031. During his time with Midtjylland's U19 team, he scored 30 goals in 46 appearances over two seasons, showcasing his talent and earning him a spot in the Bundesliga.
Having already appeared twice for Frankfurt's senior team this season, Malik's potential is evident. His rise in football is noteworthy not just for his skills but also because of his father's legacy. Razak Pimpong, who earned 10 caps for Ghana, also spent a considerable part of his career in Denmark, playing for clubs like FC Midtjylland, FC Copenhagen, and Viborg.
While Malik has established a strong connection with Denmark through his development and youth international career, his senior international allegiance remains open, leaving the door ajar for a possible future with Ghana.
