Berlin: French President Emmanuel Macron has stressed Europeans' determination to play a greater role in the trans-Atlantic partnership, two weeks before the NATO summit in Turkey.
According to Ghana News Agency, Macron expressed a strong commitment from Europeans during a meeting with five major European member states in Berlin. He emphasized the need for increased budgets and expanded capabilities to forge closer cooperation, enhancing deterrence capabilities. Macron noted that the recent budget increases are indicative of a collective determination to strengthen both European and Canadian partnerships.
Macron underscored the unity displayed between Europe and the US during the Group of Seven (G7) summit held in €°vian, France. He highlighted the continued support for Ukraine against Russia's aggression as a testament to this partnership. Macron expressed optimism that these developments would be further solidified at the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni added her voice to the discussion, urging Europe's NATO partners to advance efforts in building a robust European pillar within NATO. Meloni emphasized that this would complement the US pillar of the alliance, reinforcing the trans-Atlantic partnership.
