Accra: Lead for Africa, a pan-African education and technology company, has launched two new applications designed to enhance teaching and learning in schools. The applications, named 'CountOn' and 'WordSeeds,' focus on improving numeracy and language literacy at the basic educational level. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Daniel Dotse, Founder of Lead for Africa and Lead AI, introduced the tools during a launch event in Accra. He highlighted that the development of these applications was driven by the challenges faced by pupils and teachers in classroom settings. Mr. Dotse explained, "We noticed it took a long time for teachers to develop a lesson plan, so we thought we can develop an application that can solve that problem." The 'CountOn' application integrates the creation of lesson plans with methods for delivering lessons to students, while 'WordSeeds' is crafted to teach multiple languages, initially targeting English improvement at the basic school level. Mr. Dotse noted that the application woul d also cater to Ghanaian children from diverse cultural backgrounds who wish to learn other languages. Mr. Dotse assured that the development team would continue to monitor and enhance the applications, which are available on the Google Play Store, based on user feedback from students and teachers across Ghana. "By the third quarter of this year, we should have developed our version two, and that would be based on the feedback we get from the users," he stated. He emphasized the importance of familiarizing educators and students with modern technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to improve the educational process. He remarked, "We should not allow the fear of dependency on AI take us away from the tools and technology systems being developed." Mr. Eric Osiakwan, CEO of Chanzo Capital, praised the applications and encouraged tech entrepreneurs to create solutions that address problems and have the potential to compete on a global scale. He stated, "The reality is that your competitor is so mewhere in China or Europe, so you need to build with that global perspective." Mr. Peter Abledu Golden, Public Relations Officer for the Greater Accra Regional Administration, commended the initiative and urged users to utilize the applications effectively. The event gathered representatives from public and private sectors, as well as stakeholders in technology and education, to explore application features, share insights, and promote collaboration aimed at enhancing access to quality education.
