Keta: A legal practitioner and development-focused personality, Mr. Lom Nuku Ahlijah, has officially inaugurated a constituency office in Adzido, Keta, as a strategic initiative to foster engagement with residents and fortify ongoing development projects within the municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, the office will serve multiple roles, including acting as a contact point for legal consultations on community-related issues. Mr. Ahlijah mentioned in an interview that the office will also function as a formal channel for residents, partners, and well-wishers to connect with him regarding the various development initiatives he supports across the constituency.
Mr. Ahlijah highlighted that his support primarily involves lobbying, donations, and collaborations with government agencies, private sector entities, and non-governmental organizations. He emphasized the necessity of formalizing engagement through this office due to previous challenges residents faced in reaching him through conventional means to discuss community initiatives.
His development efforts are often executed within the framework of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which he described as the vehicle for many of his community-centered activities over the years. Noting the unique geography of the Keta Constituency, Mr. Ahlijah observed that the Keta Lagoon divides the constituency, necessitating more than one contact point to adequately serve the area's residents.
Mr. Ahlijah announced plans to open a second office in Atiavi next month to serve communities behind the lagoon, including Atiavi, Tsiame, Hatorgodo, and Lawoshime. He assured residents that further communication regarding the Atiavi office would be issued in due course.
He acknowledged that his development activities were previously conducted quietly but noted that increased visibility had recently attracted greater partnership and support. He cited a recent donation of over two million cedis, made in collaboration with the Living Presence Evangelistic Network towards the Keta Hospital, as an example of the opportunities that public visibility can bring.
Mr. Ahlijah stressed that development work in isolation limits the scale of impact, whereas increased visibility enables lobbying and partnerships that allow for more significant interventions. He appealed to residents, both locally and in the diaspora, to support ongoing efforts to address the challenges facing the area, expressing optimism about emerging opportunities, including potential diaspora partnerships.
He encouraged residents to utilize the newly opened office to report challenges, concerns, and submit suggestions for effective interventions. Mr. Ahlijah called on well-meaning citizens of the Keta Constituency to engage with the office and collaborate with other stakeholders to achieve greater developmental outcomes.
