Kumasi: The Kumasi Abattoir Company Limited has urged the public to take advantage of its facilities to access wholesome and properly inspected meat products, especially as Muslims prepare for the Eid al-Adha celebration.
According to Ghana News Agency, the management of the company ensures that animals brought in for slaughter undergo mandatory veterinary inspections and health checks. This process certifies the meat before it is released to the market for public consumption, allowing consumers to purchase meat with confidence, knowing it has been examined and declared fit for human consumption.
Eid al-Adha, an important festival in Islam, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's faith and obedience to God, symbolized by his willingness to sacrifice his son. In this context, Mr. Michael Tongban, the Production Manager of the Kumasi Abattoir, emphasized the facility as a reliable destination for residents of Greater Kumasi and beyond to obtain livestock for festive occasions. He highlighted the hygienic and controlled conditions under which the animals are slaughtered.
Mr. Tongban pointed out that customers benefit from proper animal handling procedures and strict safety measures aimed at reducing contamination during slaughtering and processing. The company collaborates closely with veterinary officers to ensure that only healthy animals are approved for slaughter. Animals with suspected health issues are isolated and managed before any meat is released for sale.
He further explained that the charges for slaughtering and related services are affordable, encouraging individuals, livestock dealers, and meat vendors to use the official abattoir instead of private facilities. Mr. Tongban also promoted the abattoir's packaged products, including sausages, beef, pork, and other processed meat options, which are prepared under hygienic conditions and carefully packaged to meet quality and safety standards. These offerings provide customers with a variety of choices based on preferences and budgets.
