London: As the 2025/26 European football season edges closer to its conclusion, several clubs with top Ghanaian players are battling for survival in their respective leagues.
According to Ghana Web, although these clubs are traditionally considered strong and expected to compete for laurels or promotion, the season has proven to be a challenge, with many struggling to make an impact. Some Ghanaian players have been outstanding individually, but the collective effort has not been enough to save their clubs. Others are sidelined with injuries and unable to contribute.
Leicester City, with Ghanaian stars Fatawu Issahaku and Jordan Ayew, were expected to secure promotion back to the Premier League. Instead, they find themselves in the relegation zone of the Championship. Despite their efforts, with Issahaku making 41 appearances, scoring nine goals, and providing seven assists, and Ayew contributing six goals and three assists in 39 appearances, the team has only managed to collect 41 points after 42 matches, sitting in 23rd place.
In the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur, featuring Kudus Mohammed, are also in danger, languishing in 18th place with 30 points after 32 matches. Kudus, who started the season well under Thomas Frank, has been sidelined with a thigh injury since January, impacting his ability to contribute to the team's efforts. His absence, alongside the managerial changes from Frank to Igor Tudor, and now Roberto De Zerbi, has added to the uncertainty of their league survival.
