Krachi East Mourns the Passing of Political Trailblazer Akua Donkor.


Krachi East: The people of Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region are mourning the loss of Akua Donkor, a trailblazing politician who left an indelible mark on Ghana’s political landscape. The late Akua Donkor, founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party and advocate for social justice and equality, inspired countless Ghanaians.

According to Ghana News Agency, residents of Krachi East, where Akua Donkor’s impact was deeply felt, are recounting her iconic phrase ‘3ny3 no no’ and her unwavering commitment to empowering women and marginalized communities. Mr. Nathaniel Kwesi Owusu, a resident of Pai-Katanga, highlighted that her legacy extends beyond politics. He noted her tireless efforts to improve education, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure in the country.

Mr. Seth Kumah, a resident of KpareKpare, praised Akua Donkor’s significant contributions to agriculture and Ghana politics, particularly her active participation in Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings. He recounted to GNA the
late Akua Donkor’s recent IPAC meeting, which was eventful, especially when the Electoral Commission’s disqualification of Mr. Bernard Mornah, the People’s National Convention candidate, was brought up. Mr. Kumah pointed out that Akua Donkor threatened to take legal action against Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, over derogatory comments about her presidential candidacy qualifications during the same meeting.

Others have recounted her achievements, which include empowering women to take charge and demand change, paving the way for future generations of female leaders. Her activism increased political participation in Ghana and encouraged citizens to engage with the democratic process.
