Kpotosu Initiates Free Cancer Screening for Women in Ho Central

Ho central: Mr Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, Member of Parliament for Ho Central, has organised a free breast and cervical cancer screening exercise for women in the constituency. The initiative took place on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Taviefe-Avenya and Deme Clinics, drawing participation from over 200 women in the area. According to Ghana News Agency, the exercise was conducted under the theme 'Healthy Woman, Strong Community,' with a sub-theme 'Screen Today, Secure Tomorrow.' The primary focus was to promote early detection and prevention of breast and cervical cancers among women in the constituency. Mr Kpotosu, in an interview, expressed gratitude to the women, especially those from Taviefe-Avenya and Deme, for their participation and commitment to health preservation. Mr Kpotosu highlighted the strong turnout as a testament to the community's dedication to safeguarding the health of their female family members. He emphasized the importance of access to preventive healthcare and early screening to m itigate deaths from preventable cancers, stating, "Early detection saves lives, and screening remains a swift, safe and strictly confidential exercise." Madam Emmanuella Kokoroko, a nurse at the Deme facility, reported that over 200 women were screened and extended her appreciation to Mr Kpotosu for the initiative. She urged women to be vigilant about their health and to seek prompt medical attention for any symptoms. Furthermore, Mr Kpotosu applauded the health professionals, staff of the Taviefe-Deme and Avenya Clinics, his constituency team, volunteers, and other stakeholders for their roles in the success of the exercise. Reaffirming his commitment as an MP, he vowed to continue promoting accessible and preventive healthcare services, particularly for women, stressing that a healthy woman is vital for building strong families and prosperous communities. He encouraged women to prioritize regular health screenings in their healthcare routines.
