Accra: Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams has pledged his full support for the Black Stars technical team, insisting that personal disagreements over selection decisions will not affect his commitment to the national team's progress.
According to Ghana Web, Adams voiced his support in the wake of ongoing discussions surrounding squad selections under head coach Carlos Queiroz during an interview on TV3. He emphasized that his role is to ensure a stable working environment for the coaches and not to meddle with their technical decisions. Adams made it clear that even when he does not fully agree with certain choices, his priority is to maintain unity and national backing for the team.
Adams elaborated on his responsibilities, stating, "I am a minister responsible to create an environment for the Technical Team to be able to function very well and that is what they should check me on." He further added that once the coach has made his decisions, it becomes his duty to rally the country behind those decisions rather than undermine them.
"My duty now is to rally the country to support that decision," he stated, reinforcing his commitment to the team's success. To underscore his point, Adams used a local expression, making it clear that he will not take any actions that could disrupt the team's progress. "Not because I'd wish that something should have been done, because that was not done, I should begin to pour sand into their gari or make the way slippery for them so they will slip and fall," he added.
His comments arrive amid heightened public debate over the Black Stars squad selections ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations. The selection process, which includes various omissions and inclusions, has sparked reactions from fans and pundits alike.
