Accra:Ghana Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has outlined the expectations for Ghana's next Black Stars head coach. The new hire is expected to spend considerable time in Ghana and actively scout players in Europe.
According to Ghana Web, the search for a successor to Carlos Queiroz is ongoing after his departure from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following a poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Adams emphasized the necessity for the coach to be present in Ghana, stating that a national team coach should not visit only for competitions. He highlighted the importance of the coach's presence to strengthen the team's connection with the country.
Additionally, the new coach should maintain a balance by traveling abroad to monitor players, particularly those in Europe. This dual focus aims to ensure comprehensive scouting and team development.
In the interim, a temporary technical team will manage the Black Stars during their upcoming matches against Somalia in November at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ghana is currently at the bottom of Group C, with no points after two losses, as they aim to qualify for the AFCON after missing the 2025 tournament.
