Kintampo: Mr. Isaac Donkor, the Kintampo Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono East Region, has lauded the government for reshaping the bad roads linking farming communities to market centers in the area. He said the reshaped roads have facilitated easy movements of rural dwellers and their economic activities in the municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Donkor highlighted that the municipality had witnessed significant development within the almost two-year administration of President John Dramani Mahama. Previously, the deplorable condition of roads was a major challenge for the community members. Roads at Soronuase, Portor, Yara, Dawadawa Number Two, Kawampe, Kyeremankrom, Techira, Asantekwaa, New Longoro, and Kunsu have all been reshaped.
He further indicated that construction works on the Farmers Service Centre and 24-hour market projects were progressing, and he pledged the assembly's dedication to completing these projects. Mr. Donkor mentioned plans for familiarisation visits to local communities for closer interaction to identify and address emerging development needs.
Mr. Donkor also emphasized the assembly's commitment to extending potable drinking water and electricity to deprived communities, with youth empowerment in agriculture remaining a priority to create more job opportunities for the youth. He called for community members to remain calm, assuring them of ongoing socio-economic interventions to tackle their needs.
The Assembly has undertaken various projects to improve access to quality education, constructing a six-unit classroom block with teachers' quarters and a Water Closet toilet facility at Gulumpe, and a similar facility at Babatokuma. The New Longoro community has also benefited from a three-unit Kindergarten block. Additionally, the Assembly procured 681 mono and dual desks for distribution to selected basic schools.
In terms of health and infrastructure, the Assembly constructed a multi-purpose lecture hall, a 300-capacity students' hostel, and accommodation for tutors at the Kintampo College of Health. The Kintampo Municipal Hospital now has standard male and female washroom facilities. The Assembly also installed two new traffic lights at major intersections in the Township.
Furthermore, the New Longoro Police Station construction has been completed, and both the Municipal Assembly block and the official residence of the Municipal Chief Executive have been renovated.
