Accra: Ghanaian Afrobeats star KiDi has opened up about his reasons for leaving his record label, Lynx Entertainment after a decade-long association. In a recent interview with ZionFelix, KiDi confirmed his departure from the label, revealing that he left in 2025 following the conclusion of his contract. The musician emphasized that his departure was driven by a desire to pursue an independent path in the music industry, and that the split was amicable, without any conflict with label boss Richie Mensah. According to Ghana Web, KiDi likened his decision to leave Lynx Entertainment to the natural progression of a child growing up and seeking independence. He expressed deep appreciation for the role Lynx Entertainment played in his development, acknowledging that the label transformed him from a university student into a globally recognized artist. KiDi highlighted the importance of taking what he had learned and applying it to carve out his own path in the industry. The "Sugar" hitmaker recounted the moment he informed Richie Mensah of his decision to leave, expressing gratitude for the guidance and opportunities provided by the label. Despite attempts by Mensah to persuade him to stay, KiDi stood firm in his decision, seeking to forge his own path and make his own mistakes. Mensah ultimately respected KiDi's choice and offered his full support and blessings for the artist's future endeavors. KiDi expressed confidence in his ability to succeed as an independent artist, citing his talent, knowledge, and strong sense of self as the foundation for his future. He joins fellow Lynx Entertainment alumni Kuami Eugene, who also left the label after his contract concluded.
