Accra: Mr Emmanuel Kwabla Cole, the Headmaster of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC), has described the school as a centre of academic excellence, highlighting its performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) over the past three years. He attributed the school's success to the commitment of management, teaching staff, students, and parents to quality education.
According to Ghana News Agency, during the annual Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting at the school's Assembly Hall, Mr Cole revealed that in the 2025 WASSCE, 899 candidates from KASEC sat for the examination, with 871 students obtaining grades that qualified them for tertiary education. This achievement placed KASEC among the top 100 senior high schools in Ghana out of more than 727 schools that participated.
Mr Cole also noted the school's success in practical agriculture, where it was recognized as the Best School in a recent competition. The school is expanding its agricultural projects to include fish farming and beekeeping, with selected teachers and students receiving training to gain the necessary skills.
On infrastructure, Mr Cole mentioned that the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) is constructing two 12-unit classroom blocks and additional dormitory facilities to eliminate the double-track system by 2027. The school has manufactured 200 mono desks, 20 marker boards, and constructed a toilet facility to improve teaching and learning conditions.
Efforts by school management and the PTA have resulted in the drilling of four mechanised boreholes for reliable water supply, and the establishment of a brass band to enhance co-curricular activities. The Government has also supplied 750 tables and chairs, and over 900 tablets have been distributed to students to support digital learning.
Despite these achievements, Mr Cole identified challenges such as inadequate teachers' accommodation, insufficient desks and beds for students, and a shortage of non-teaching staff including drivers, electricians, cooks, carpenters, and security personnel. He urged parents to continue supporting their children's education by providing necessary resources.
Mr Cole praised the PTA for its ongoing support and called for continued collaboration to address the school's infrastructural and logistical needs. Assistant Headmasters and the Senior Housemaster also addressed the meeting, outlining measures to improve discipline, student welfare, and academic performance.
