Kadjebi Observes Child Health Promotion Week, Urges Regular Weighing

Kadjebi: The Kadjebi District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has marked Child Health Promotion Week with a strong emphasis on the importance of regular weighing of children.

According to Ghana News Agency, many caregivers lack awareness of fundamental child health needs, including immunization, nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. Health education aims to equip caregivers with the necessary knowledge to address these issues effectively.

Mrs. Mabel Amankwa-Amoah, the Kadjebi District Health Promotion Officer, highlighted the initiative in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kadjebi, Oti Region. She explained that the week was celebrated under the theme: ‘Every Child Deserves a Healthy Future; Invest in Your Child. Attend Weighing Regularly.’ She emphasized that regular weighing is a straightforward, cost-effective method to safeguard children’s health and support their future.

The Health Promotion Officer reported to GNA that the campaign involved engaging community members, local leaders, schools, and caregivers throughout the district. The aim was to enhance the health and well-being of children across Kadjebi.

Mrs. Amankwa-Amoah also raised public awareness about the importance of vitamin A supplementation, deworming, the use of insecticide-treated nets for malaria prevention, and hygiene promotion. She stressed that child health is a shared responsibility, involving not just parents but also schools, community leaders, and neighbors.

She concluded that a healthy child ultimately grows into a productive adult, contributing to a stronger community. Immunization, growth monitoring, and other health services are essential to ensuring children are safe and strong from the outset.
