Dormaa-ahenkro: The Jegri Bekala Company Limited, a prominent mining company in the Dormaa Municipality of the Bono Region, has generously donated school items valued at GHC1000,000 to students in the area who have recently gained admission to Senior High Schools. The donation comprises 1,163 trunks, 1,213 student mattresses, and 5,672 exercise books and notebooks.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Collins Atta Opoku, General Manager of Sustainable and Corporate Affairs at Jegri Bekala, emphasized that this initiative is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. He described the donation as a significant investment in the students’ academic futures, viewing it as an extension of the resources of the Dormaa state for the benefit of its young scholars.
During the presentation ceremony held at Dormaa-Ahenkro, Mr. Opoku encouraged the students to work diligently and maintain discipline to honor the support provided and achieve academic excellence. He also announced the company’s plan to offer scholarships to 15 deserving students from the municipality to pursue higher education in fields such as medicine, business administration, and engineering.
The gesture was also appreciated by Mr. Frank Kumih, Special Aide to Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area. He expressed gratitude to Jegri Bekala’s CEO, Mr. Prince Bekala, for his ongoing philanthropic efforts, highlighting a previous donation of GHC600,000 for the Kwafie Festival in 2024, marking it as the largest individual contribution to the Dormaahene for the festival’s celebration.
Nana Kumi Agyemang, Public Relations Officer at the Dormaa Central Municipal Directorate of Education, also expressed thanks to the company for its support. He mentioned plans to organize the 2025 Annual Teacher Prize award ceremony in November, with aspirations to include a vehicle as a prize, and called for continued support from Jegri Bekala.
Nana Agyemang further advised students to avoid negative influences and focus on their studies to maximize the benefits of the support they have received.
